Olav Phillips, the founder of Anomalies.net discussed how he is developing technology, such as the new search engine UFO Crawler to explore and quantify information about UFOs and the unexplained.UFO Crawler weeds out search results that are unrelated to UFOs and anomalies, he noted.
During the evening, Olav was joined by several guests. First up was writer Duncan Lunan who recounted his translation of mysterious space echoes that were first reported in the 1920's. According to his analysis done in 1972, the signals came from a probe between the Earth and the Moon, which originated in the Epsilon Boottis star system.
Longtime researcher Ted Phillips discussed UFO incidents in which ground traces and physical evidence were present, including the Lonnie Zamora 1964 case, which he and J. Allen Hynek investigated. It was this case that caused Hynek to reverse his "swamp gas" views about UFOs, Ted said. He also described a bizarre 1970 UFO attack in Ethiopia, in which a circular red object destroyed fifty buildings in a village-- items were completely melted, yet there was no fire. A more recent case in North America involved small white globes flying in and around witnesses, he added.
In the last hour, John Titor expert Darby came aboard to discuss the much talked about time traveler case. While a number of Titor's predictions have not played out according to his timeline (Y2k will be a disaster, 2004 Olympics would be halted etc.), Darby has found Titor's tale to be consistent and original. Though not completely ruling out the possibility that Titor was a real time traveler, he suggested that his postings may have been an experiment in the then new medium of the Internet, and that over the years they have held sustaining value as "edutainment."
