Psychic Dreaming/ Open Lines

About the show

Director of the Office of Paranormal Investigations, and President of the Forever Family Foundation, an organization supporting research on life after death and the work of spirit mediums in the grieving process, Loyd Auerbach, was appointed to the faculty of Atlantic University of Virginia Beach, Virginia, in late 2010, where he teaches an online parapsychology course. He discussed how to identify telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, and other psi experiences as they occur through dreams.

The psychic dream is a dream (or nightmare) in which there is psychic information presented, such as in a precognitive vision, Auerbach explained, noting how these kind of dreams feel different from other dreams. "There's some feeling/context to [a psychic dream] that makes you remember it or makes it really stand out that it connects with reality in some way," he said. According to Auerbach, psychic dreams are mostly innocuous and mundane but people tend to remember the negative ones, and some even come to believe they caused the tragedy presented within the dream.

Dreams of future events can be altered to some extent, except for natural disasters which are set in stone, Auerbach continued. "There are many cases on record of people getting warnings of something that was about to happen and then avoiding that situation," he reported, adding how it is difficult to judge such instances because of the so-called intervention paradox (if you did not get into an accident, how can you truly know you avoided it). Auerbach also spoke about mass consciousness and how huge emotional events, such as 9-11, send ripples through time which can affect people.

Callers' Dreams

Open Lines followed in the latter half of the program. Edward in New Jersey told George about a remarkably vivid historical dream in which he met Johann Sebastian Bach during the late German composer's lifetime. "Sebastian is one of my intimate associates from another life in Germany," he said. Edward noted he has written a book about Bach which was informed in part by this dream.

Andrew from El Paso, Texas, recounted an emotionally-charged dream in which his deceased mother, who had never met his daughter, showed up to give her a goodnight kiss. "We gave my daughter my mother's name... I even think about it and I get choked up about it," Andrew admitted, suggesting it could mean his mother is watching over his daughter.

Will in Denver, Colorado, phoned in to share a dream in which he heard a knock on his door, walked to it and looked through the peephole to find a strange old man in dark clothes with a wrinkled unrecognizable face standing on his porch. "When I woke up out of my sleep I was in a panic, heart racing, sweating, I was really nervous about being in the house, going near the door for the rest of that night," Will recalled.
