Alabama Cops Squash Viral Sasquatch Hoax

By Tim Binnall

Authorities in Alabama took to social media to squash widespread rumors that they were investigating a scary Sasquatch encounter in the state. According to a local media report, the weird debunking was needed after a resident named Kenny Walker posted a series of alleged Bigfoot photos (seen below) on Facebook last week. Along with the classically hard-to-decipher images, he shared a rather fantastic story wherein a man was terrified after encountering the famed cryptid while turkey hunting at Big Lake Creek in the community of Wilmer. The unsettling tale and the accompanying pictures were apparently convincing enough to generate considerable interest from people who live in the area and the curious account went viral among residents in the region.

Walker even went so far as to claim that "Mobile County Sheriff's Office just validated the photos, and the Finding Bigfoot Team has been deployed" to get to the bottom of the case. Perhaps realizing that rumors of a Sasquatch roaming the region probably shouldn't be allowed to fester online, the department quickly responded by sharing the viral post with the amusing message "Kenny, put the pipe down, dude." For his part, Walker conceded to a local TV station that the 'sighting' was, indeed, a hoax that took on a life of its own after he had posted it to Facebook for a laugh. Fortunately, the sheriff's office saw the humor in the strange viral Sasquatch story.
