'Alien' Sea Creature Found in Hawaii

A beachgoer in the Hawaiian town of Kailua was baffled when a breathtakingly-bizarre sea creature washed ashore.

The remarkable animal was later identified by a local biologist to be an argonaut, which is a type of octopus that lives in the open ocean.

Also called a 'paper nautilus,' the unique creature is rarely seen by swimmers and seems to avoid venturing too close to the shore, making this particular appearance on Lanikai Beach rather noteworthy.

Fortunately, the argonaut's visit to the beach was short-lived and not fatal as the person who discovered it subsequently helped the creature back into the water after taking some jaw-dropping footage of the, no doubt, disoriented animal.
