Alleged Ghost Hunt at Abandoned Building Leads to Trespassing Arrest in Malaysia

A Malaysian man found himself in hot water with the law after being busted for what he claims was a ghost hunt inside an abandoned shopping center. According to a local media report, the peculiar misadventure occurred on Saturday afternoon in the city of Petaling Jaya when a security system at the building alerted its owner to an intruder. When cops arrived on the scene, they found Muhamad Zainudin Asaron wandering around the shopping center alone. When questioned by police, the young man offered a rather odd excuse for his presence: he had been conducting a paranormal investigation.

As for why Asaron was on a proverbial solo mission, he told the cops that his friends had intended to join him but had 'ghosted' the gathering, leaving him to seek spirits on his own. Whether the young man was truly on an afternoon paranormal investigation by himself, his tale was apparently implausible enough to police that they decided against giving him a proverbial slap on the wrist. Asaron was charged with trespassing, to which he pleaded guilty, and now awaits a possible sentence of six months in prison and a fine of around $700, though it is thought that the court may go easy on him since he is a youthful offender.
