Bizarre 'Silent Clown' Report Leaves Washington Neighborhood Unsettled

By Tim Binnall

A neighborhood in Washington state is understandably on edge after a resident claimed that an unsettling silent clown had broken into her home. According to a local media report, the unnerving case occurred in the central part of the state's Whidbey Island earlier this month when an elderly woman phoned the police with a truly terrifying tale. Shortly after midnight, she said, a man dressed in a clown costume had entered her home. Eerily, when she encountered the haunting harlequin, the individual did not say a word, opting instead to hold up a sign which said that he was robbing her before subsequently vanishing into the night without taking anything.

As is custom with creepy clown encounters, there was no sign of the individual when cops arrived nor any indication that someone had broken into the home. Police are fairly certain that the woman believed her story to be true, though they did concede that the call could have been the result of some kind of mental health episode. That said, many in the community are concerned that the incident genuinely occurred, with one resident declaring on social media that "this is not a gag! We believe she was unharmed because she was compliant, calm and cooperated." One thing seems certain and that is that people living in the area would probably be wise to lock their doors at night, lest the silent clown strike again.
