Authorities in Colorado are investigating a rather bizarre case wherein a sticky-fingered ne'er-do-well stole a box of human heads that were intended for medical research. The very strange caper reportedly occurred on Thursday morning in the city of Denver when a miscreant managed to access the back of a shipping truck. The thief proceeded to pilfer a dolly as well as a peculiar container bearing the words 'Exempt Human Specimen' and the logo of a group that facilitates the donations of bodies to science.
According to police, the specimens contained in the package were, in fact, human heads that were being sent to a medical research facility by an organization known as Science Care. Why someone would steal such a strange shipment is a matter of conjecture with the assumption largely being that the individual who pulled off the crime was unaware of what, exactly, they were taking. Should that be the case, they likely wound up with quite the surprise when they opened the ill-gotten box and saw a human head staring back at them.
Setting aside the matter of what the thief's motive might have been, cops in Denver are understandably hoping to track down the container and its unnerving contents before their medical research value is compromised. One this is for certain, if the crook behind the caper had initially hoped sell the hot goods, their plan has likely fallen apart as they will probably have a difficult time finding anyone who is the market for a human head within the world of the criminal underground.
