A bull riding shotgun in a car? Now you've seen it all! Apparently, Lee Meyer has been driving his beloved bull, Howdy Doody, around in his modified Ford Crown Victoria sedan for years, making appearances at various rodeos and parades. The car has half the windshield and roof removed to make room for Howdy Doody to ride along. It’s no wonder that the car caught the attention of the Norfolk, Nebraska police when it was spotted driving on the main highway entering the city of roughly 24,000 on Wednesday morning.
Norfolk Police Capt. Chad Reiman said that they didn’t have a full understanding of what they were dealing with until they saw it. The video of the traffic stop shot by News Channel Nebraska quickly went viral. It’s not clear why Meyer decided to load Howdy Doody into his car and drive 36 miles from his home in Neligh to Norfolk instead of using a proper trailer like he's done in the past when on the highway.
But according to Meyer’s wife Rhonda, Howdy Doody has been Meyer’s "friend and buddy" ever since he got him eight or nine years ago. Capt. Reiman admitted that there were some obvious traffic violations related to Meyer’s car, but he let him off with a warning as long as he turned around and took Howdy Doody home. And that is no bull.
