With the UFO phenomenon maintaining its grip on the imagination of the public this past year, it should come as no surprise that 2022 was replete with reports of unusual objects spotted in the sky. Though no specific sighting served as the proverbial smoking gun needed to prove that 'we are not alone,' the past twelve months saw an array of instances wherein bewildered witnesses captured videos and photos of odd aerial anomalies that in some cases almost defy description. Appearing over an array of locations around the world and in a variety of shapes and sizes, here are the strangest UFO sightings of 2022:
- Several people living near Lake Titicaca claimed to have witnessed a UFO descend from the sky and then submerge into the water, where it was photographed by a quick-thinking observer before it allegedly blasted back off into space.
- Witnesses in Israel were mystified by a long glowing object that resembled a lightning bolt frozen in place over a city
- A metallic sphere that seemed to sport lights around its circumference was reported by multiple residents of eastern Tennessee, including one professional photographer who managed to snap a picture of the oddity (seen above).
- During Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee festivities this past June, sharp-eyed television viewers noticed a peculiar white orb that mysteriously zipped across the sky.
- A woman in Mexico captured footage of a truly bizarre star-shaped object hovering in the sky and the anomaly was later filmed by another witness the following day.
- While visiting a national park dubbed 'Devil's Punch Bowl,' a British woman did something of a double take when she looked overhead and saw what seemed to be a cube-shaped cloud.
- A Pakistani man was left scratching his head when he noticed an eerie black triangle that hovered over a city for hours.
- What appeared to be a partially cloaked UFO was inadvertently filmed by a home security system at a residence in Kansas City.
- A fantastic set of photos that circulated on social media back in August purportedly show a flying saucer that floated over a city in Mexico.
- Taking a break from his overnight job to film a storm sweeping across the area, a Texas man captured footage of an inexplicable object that suddenly fell from the sky.
- A particularly puzzling case out of Taiwan featured a pair of floating blue streaks that were joined by a group of orbs which appeared out of thin air and then encircled the anomalies.
- In a remarkable mass sighting in Mexico, multiple groups of people saw and filmed what seemed to be a slowly rotating disk in the sky.
