In a testament to the troublesome nature of turkeys, a Canadian man suffered multiple injuries, including having both of his hips broken, when he ran afoul of the fowl and they went on the attack. The unfortunate incident reportedly occurred late last month in the community of Celista, British Columbia. Called to perform a welfare check on a resident, police were surprised when they arrived at his home and discovered that the man was badly injured with a rather bizarre explanation for his condition: turkeys.
According to police, the man told them that he wound up on the decidedly wrong end of an encounter with a gang of the birds and that the skirmish left him with a broken finger, several lacerations, and two broken hips. Fortunately, cops did not have to rescue him as the turkey thrashing had actually occurred a few days earlier and he had already been treated for his injures. As for the bellicose birds, a official with the RCMP indicated that the animals would be facing the "death penalty for their crimes," which one imagines might make for a rather satisfying meal for the man with the two broken hips.
