Cat-astrophe Averted at Airport

TSA agents at JFK Airport reportedly let the cat out of the bag this week when a particular suitcase at a security checkpoint caught their attention. Unbeknownst to the suitcase's owner, a friend's kitty had chosen to use it as a place to relax before finding itself passing through the x-ray machine a few hours later. As the "CAT scan" image of the stowaway onscreen was raising eyebrows, another agent made a more direct observation: the animal's fur through the partially-opened zipper on the bag.

The feline—named Smells—was liberated from the luggage and taken to safety while the passenger responsible was tracked down. Apparently, neither the bag's owner nor Smells' were even aware that the cat had unwittingly hitched a ride.
