Authorities in India are investigating a jaw-dropping incident wherein a man who had been declared dead suddenly came back to life moments before he was about to be cremated. The strange snafu reportedly occurred last Thursday when an ailing Rohitash Kumar was admitted to a hospital in the city of Jhunjhunu. After his condition worsened, doctors concluded that he had died. Kumar's body was subsequently sent to a mortuary with the intention of having his remains cremated.
However, the process never came to pass as, just before the funeral pyre could be lit, the 'dead' man started moving. "He was alive and breathing," recalled the hospital's astounded chief medical officer. In response to the stunning turn of events, Kumar was quickly transported back to the medical facility where he died the following day. Indian authorities have since launched an investigation into the curious case and suspended the three doctors who had been responsible for erroneously declaring the man dead.
