Decades-Old McDonald's Fries Discovered Hidden Behind Wall of Home in Illinois

By Tim Binnall

A normally routine home improvement project in Illinois took a strange turn when a family found a decades-old bag of McDonald's french fries hidden behind a wall. The very weird discovery was reportedly made earlier this month as Rob and Grace Jones were in the process of doing some renovations at their residence in the community of Crystal Lake. After removing a piece of wall in order to install a paper towel holder, the couple were taken aback when they noticed a towel had been tucked away in the now-exposed space. There initial reaction was one of fear, Grace recalled, musing that her first thought was that "we're going to be unveiling a cold case here" and she even went so far as to cover the eyes of her children "in case there was any dried blood."

However, their fears soon gave way to wonderment when they plucked the obstruction from behind the wall and discovered that the towel was wrapped around some shockingly old McDonald's wrappers and a bag of uneaten french fries from the popular fast food chain (seen below). Amazingly, the couple later determined that the once-tasty time capsule was likely left behind the wall of their home when it was built back in 1959. In an observation that might give fast food fans second thoughts about their next meal, Grace indicated that the fries were "very well preserved" despite being a staggering six decades old, though the family wisely opted not to sample the food to see how it tasted after all these years.
