A deer hunter in upstate New York claims that she spotted a large bipedal creature that she suspects was a Sasquatch. The intriguing incident reportedly occurred on November 22nd "on some state land" in the community of Steuben and was subsequently revealed in a post on the Facebook page Bigfoot Researchers of the Hudson Valley. The unnamed hunter explained that the incident began shortly after she and a friend had "settled in a spot to sit" and watch for deer. The silence of the moment was suddenly pierced by the sound of wood striking wood followed by "several whooping grunting noises."
The commotion in the forest continued with what sounded like a tree falling and then they heard the distinct sound of a large creature breaking branches as it moved through the woods. Given the considerable amount of noise, they dismissed the possibility that the source could be fellow hunters and grew concerned that the animal might be a bear. Standing up to assess the situation, the duo was astonished to see a "tall dark figure shaped like a pillar." Since she saw no shoulders on the creature, the witness surmised that she was looking at it from the side and observed that its head seemed to be "turning back and forth."
Noting that the figure stood approximately 50 yards away in a pathway that was illuminated by the sun, the hunter marveled that "I didn't want to take my eyes off of it." Alas, when she betrayed that instinct in order to grab her binoculars from her bag, that split-second breaking of her gaze allowed the creature to vanish from sight. After the figure disappeared back into the forest, the hunter says, she and her friend heard additional wood knocks as well as whooping sounds coming from different directions. Once quiet finally returned to the area, the duo smartly left the scene before they wound up being the ones who were hunted.
