Dyatlov Pass Hikers' Tomb Desecrated

By Tim Binnall

The tomb of the hikers who perished in the infamous Dyatlov Pass incident suffered considerable damage at the hands of miscreants who mindlessly desecrated the memorial. According to a local media report, the appalling act of vandalism occurred earlier this week at the Mikhailovskoe Cemetery in the city of Yekaterinburg. At the site, the nine men and women who mysteriously died in Russia's Ural Mountains back in 1959 are remembered by way of an obelisk bearing their names and photos.

For reasons that defy rational explanation, the reprobates behind the reprehensible crime scribbled "strange inscriptions and indecent drawings," including a swastika, on the back of the sizeable memorial. Additionally, they ripped the picture of hiker Semyon Zolotaryov from the tomb and defaced the image as well as stole a small metal seal from the top of the obelisk. As one might imagine, authorities in Yekaterinburg are investigating the disgraceful caper in the hopes of bringing the perpetrators to justice.
