Friars in Italy Perform Nine-Hour-Long Exorcism on Possessed Woman

By Tim Binnall

In a wild story out of Italy, a group of friars performed a nine-hour-long exorcism on a young woman who was believed to be possessed by demonic forces after she attacked a priest and unleashed chaos inside a church. The unsettling incident reportedly occurred this past Sunday at the Church of Saint Mary of Mount Berico in the city of Vicenza. Troubled by what they perceived to be inexplicable violent behavior recently exhibited by the unnamed woman, her family brought her to the confession that morning in the hopes of eradicating whatever sinister influence had befallen her. However, the attempted 'divine intervention' took a troubling turn when she suddenly attacked the priest who was tasked with tending to her.

She subsequently began running around the church while screaming, swearing, and speaking in an eerie voice and language that was not her own. Responding to the eerie episode unfolding before them, four friars were able to wrangle the young woman and proceeded to perform an exorcism on her that lasted a staggering nine hours. One of the individuals who participated in the marathon session, Father Carlo Rossato, confirmed the case to a local media outlet, telling them that "it was a real possession and it was only in the evening that the situation was resolved, when the girl physically collapsed." Chillingly, he went on to note that while this particular girl has recovered from the ordeal, hers is merely one of "hundreds" of such cases he has encountered at the church.
