Legendary television personality Geraldo Rivera recently revealed that he once encountered a UFO, but the circumstances surrounding the strange sighting may give one reason to be skeptical. The peculiar account reportedly came to light this past Tuesday as the Fox News program The Five was covering that morning's Congressional hearing on unidentified aerial phenomena. The somewhat lighthearted discussion prompted Rivera to revisit his own unique experience with the unexplained. "I've sailed around the world, I've seen a lot of clear skies. I've seen satellites, which are kind of spooky, weather balloons, stray aircraft," he recalled, "the only time I ever saw a UFO, I was stoned on ecstasy."
While the perceived punchline drew laughter from his co-hosts, when pressed on the matter, Rivera indicated that he was quite serious about the experience. He explained that the sighting occurred as he was sailing in the Bahamas and spotted an object on the horizon that was "brighter than the North Star." Thinking that he was about to collide with the mysterious illumination, Rivera said that he "tried to avoid it" by steering his boat in various directions. This proved to futile, he mused, concluding his story with the obseration that the object "just tracked me everywhere I went." We'll leave it up to you to decide whether the sighting was truly that of a UFO or simply the result of Rivera's recreational activity that evening.
