Ghanaian Village 'Cursed' with Mysterious Bee Swarms After Downing of Revered Tree

By Tim Binnall

Residents of a Ghanaian village are afraid to leave their homes due to mysterious swarms of bees that some believe were cast upon the community following the burning of a revered tree. According to a local media report, the curious case is currently unfolding in the country's Atwima Nwabiagya North District. Beginning sometime this past weekend, massive swarms of bees inexplicably descended upon the community for several days in a row. The invading insects are said to have attacked dozens of residents, including some individuals who required hospitalization after being caught in the cloud of cantankerous bugs.

The recurring swarms of bellicose bees have led to a lockdown in the community as people are terrified of going outside and encountering the insects. As for what could have caused the unsettling outbreak, many have pointed the finger at a misguided resident who burned down a revered Sycamore tree considered to be something of a supernatural protector of the community. Suspecting that its destruction angered the natural forces of the area, village elders have begun performing rituals to atone for the perceived slight and, they hope, remove the perceived curse that has seemingly fallen upon the community.
