'Ghost' in Malaysia Gets Busted

A mischievous Malaysian teenager hoping to pull off a ghost hoax was busted when a police officer caught him in the middle of the prank.

With the help of some friends, Mohd Imran was wrapped up in a blanket to resemble an infamous Malaysian ghost known as a 'hantu pacong.'

Apparently, this spirit carries with it a rather notorious reputation as Imran planned to wait for children coming home from class and terrify them with his appearance.

When the troublemaking teens failed to find any victims in their village, they ventured to a nearby urban center looking for someone to scare.

Unfortunately for Imran, it was then that he wound up encountering an police officer who quickly put a stop to the prank.

The blanket-wrapped teen got off lucky in that the cop was more amused than angry over the stunt and devised for a relatively lenient punishment on the spot.

Since legend says that the hantu pacong is forced to hop because of its shrouds, the officer opted to have the teen 'perform' as the ghost for 15 minutes, jumping up and down on the sidewalk to the delight of onlookers.

He then sent Imran and his friends on their way after admonishing them that they should be doing something more constructive than donning blankets pretending to be ghosts.

The strange incident confirms what many may already have known: just as ghostly lore can be found throughout the world, so too can teenagers with too much time on their hands.
