An incredible 3,000-year-old statue was found hiding in plain sight in one of Cairo's impoverished neighborhoods.
The enormous antiquity was discovered in a pool of groundwater by a team of archaeologists who subsequently extracted the amazing find.
The team have been able to recover the bust of the statue as well as the breathtaking head of the piece and believe that, in total, the work once stood a whopping 26 feet tall.
They now plan to pluck the remaining portions of the statue from the ground and restore it to its previous glory, thought to be a tribute to the pharaoh Ramses II.
That said, one can't help but notice the rather 'alien' head of the statue and wonder if there is more to it than meets the eye, although archaeologists assuredly have some explanation for the statue's suspicious appearance.
Whether it will be enough to convince ancient alien aficionados who may see ET in the 'Cairo Conehead' is another story.
