A giant squid was found stranded on a beach of Brittania Bay, in South Africa. With a stretch of some 16 ft. (including its tentacles), the beached creature was not even fully grown. Richard Davies, who shot video of his encounter, asked a man to pose next to the squid to show off its enormous length. While an effort was made to roll the giant cephalopod back into the water, sadly, they could tell it was in the process of dying.
"It was still pumping out ink and I touched one of its tentacles which sucked onto my hand and I actually had to use some force to remove it," Davies told News24. Such a creature washing on shore in that area of the world is considered a rare occurrence.
