Pro athletes are known to indulge in a wide range of rituals and superstitions they believe will bring them luck at competitions, and a witch in Augusta, Georgia has reportedly offered her services to the world's best golfers this weekend. Setting up shop directly across the street from the Masters Championship her city hosts each year, Amanda Wicklum, known as Augusta's "official witch," is ready to assist players with the supernatural sports medicine she stocks at her Curiosity Cottage.
Some of the shop's merchandise is for general use by golfers, like the many crystals and other items believed to clear the mind or aid in performance in other ways. But some remedies are more tailored for individual players, Wicklum said, like the Reiki she recommends for Tiger Woods, or a special candle she believes Justin Thomas could benefit from.
Wicklum's choice of location for her store is no accident: a diehard golf fan, she's so spellbound by the Masters that she's been in the crowd every year since she was a child. And while the golf community and the members of Augusta's six covens may not seem at first glance to have much in common, Wicklum seems eager to bridge that gap. "We are beyond blessed to have been given such a wonderful opportunity to represent our community!" a post about the tournament on the shop's Facebook page read on Saturday.
