An enormous sunspot group recently turned toward Earth, leading to concerns about dangerous solar flares and CMEs that could affect our technology, satellites, and communication systems. In fact, a NASA model has predicted a possible CME hit in the early hours of February 13th.
The spots, dubbed AR3576, are so vast they are reported to stretch more than 124,000 miles across. They were first detected by NASA's Perseverance Rover all the way over on Mars.
The sun has a type of weather pattern that cycles over an 11-year period, and as we are reaching the solar maximum, these kinds of eruptions are not unexpected. View further details and images at Spaceweather.com.
