Indian Woman Accuses Husband of Secretly Stealing and Selling Her Kidney

In a bizarre story out of India, a woman has accused her estranged husband of pulling off a secret heist wherein, unbeknownst to her, he stole and sold her kidney four years ago! The wild claim was reportedly made by Ranjita Kundu, who reported her suspicions to police late last month in the village of Kodameta. According to the woman, a recent visit to the doctor for abominable pain led to the discovery that one of her kidneys had mysteriously vanished. Although understandably stunned, Kundu had little doubt as to who was responsible for her curious condition and pointed the finger at her estranged husband.

Around four years ago, she explained, the couple had hit something of a rough patch over what the unnamed man perceived to be an unfulfilled dowry from his wife's family. At the same time, Kundu developed a kidney stone and so her husband 'thoughtfully' arranged treatment for the condition at a private hospital. While under anesthesia there, she alleges, her husband somehow enlisted an unsavory doctor to remove his wife's kidney so that he could sell it on the black market and 'recoup' the funds from the dowry that had gone unpaid. Upon waking up from the procedure, Kundu was apparently none the wiser until the visit to her doctor last month.

Authorities have since arrested both Kundu's husband as well as his sister-in-law, who the aggrieved wife alleges was an accomplice in the scheme. A police official told the media in India that "all possible angles are being examined" and that the duo "will be interrogated and necessary action will be taken" if the shocking assertions can be proven. Sadly, it would seem that the marriage had already ended eight months ago when Kundu's husband abandoned his family, though his estranged wife may now be thankful for that turn of events, since it prevented him from further harvesting any more of her organs for cash.
