An industrious Australian man was cited by cops after he was caught riding around on a cooler that had been combined with a motorized cart as police said that the clever contraption constituted an actual vehicle. According to a Facebook post from the Swan Hill Police Service, the odd incident occurred last Thursday in the town of Kerang when the unnamed 25-year-old was spotted cruising down the sidewalk on the weird ride. When he was stopped by an officer, the department marveled, the man indicated that he didn't have a driver's license and "in fact never held one." Alas, it would seem that the faux motorist's seemingly ingenious attempt to find a loophole in the system was not to be.
The man was subsequently cited for not only driving without a license, but also for having an unregistered motorized vehicle. In their post, the department explained that the 'cooler cart' is "considered a vehicle due to the size/engine capacity and must comply with legislative requirements and road rules." As such, police impounded the proverbial mirth mobile for 30 days while the man files the appropriate paperwork to reclaim it. It's uncertain whether or not he was allowed to keep the contents of the cooler. To that end, before one jumps to conclusions as to the condition of the driver, the department noted one silver lining to the stop is that he "returned a negative roadside breath test," which is somewhat surprising given the nature of his ride.
