The Japanese robot, Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (Slim), successfully landed on the Moon near an equatorial crater, making Japan the fifth country to achieve a soft landing on Earth's satellite. However, the mission faces challenges as its solar power system is not generating electricity, and Slim is solely reliant on its batteries. Engineers are working to save the mission by prioritizing activities, such as turning off heaters and retrieving data on the landing software's performance. Despite the current issues, the Japanese space agency is not giving up on Slim immediately, leaving the possibility that changes in light angles on the Moon could revive the mission.
