In a bizarre story out of Ireland, authorities say that a man died following a violent attack by a particularly aggressive chicken. The strange incident reportedly occurred last April at Jasper Kraus' home in the town of Ballinasloe and came to light this week following an investigation into the odd case. According to Corey O'Keeffe, who was renting a room at the residence when the attack took place, he was alerted to something amiss when he heard his 67-year-old landlord crying out for help. Rushing to Kruas' side, the tenant found the man profusely bleeding from his leg and barely conscious. Like something out of a horror film, O'Keeffe says that the dying man whispered just one word as he tried to save him: rooster.
When Kraus' daughter, Virginia Guinan, arrived on the scene shortly thereafter, she quickly confirmed her father's unusual accusation as the bird in question was observed with blood-covered claws. Medical examiners strengthen the case against the chicken by noting that only the man's lower legs had been wounded and an autopsy ultimately concluded that his cause of death was lethal cardiac arrhythmia that had been brought about blood loss from the attack. In a sad irony to the story, Guinan revealed that she had previously tried rid the family of the rooster after it had gone after her daughter, but Kraus insisted on saving the animal which later took his life.
