Residents of Iowa's Muscatine County are on edge due to a spate of 'men in black' sightings along the roadways of the region.
The mysterious person or people appear dressed in black trench coats and lurk along the side of the road, sometimes even stepping into the street to the surprise of drivers that spot them.
An increasing number of witnesses have come forward to report their encounters on social media, leading many to wondering just who is visiting Muscatine County.
"My son has experienced this and it's no joke," one resident posted on Facebook, "it was really a frightening experience to him."
The unease over the proverbial MIBs has even led police authorities in Muscatine County to acknowledge the mystery.
In a sign of the times, they also posted on Facebook, saying, "We have had several reports of ‘men dressed in black’ entering the roadway in rural Muscatine County."
Unfortunately the police seem to have no answer as to who the individuals may be and are asking for the public to contact them should they come across the spooky interlopers.
We're guessing that the ultimate answer to the mystery will have less to do with paranormal lore and more likely being just Muscatine County's only goth teenager having just returned from his first year in college.
Nonetheless, Coast Insiders interested in learning more about the real MIB paranormal phenomenon can check out author and researcher Nick Redfern's appearance on the 5/26/2012 edition of the program.
