A mysterious monolith was recently discovered on a hiking trail near Las Vegas and, as is so often the case with such puzzling pieces, no one is quite sure how it wound up there. The odd find, which hearkens back to the curious craze that swept the globe in late 2020, was revealed by the city's police department on Monday. Sharing photos of the sizeable metallic monolith on social media, they explained that the Las Vegas Metro Search and Rescue Team stumbled upon the mysterious object "over the weekend" on a hiking trail near the city. Marveling that they have no idea who put the piece there or how they did it, the department used the strange case to share some hiking safety tips with the public "while the internet gets to work on this mystery."
