Farmers in an Indian village are understandably concerned after a mysterious creature managed to kill a staggering 29 sheep over the course of two days without anyone catching sight of the culprit. According to a local media report, the curious case began on Sunday in the community of Gunadola when 20 of the unfortunate animals were discovered dead by way of some kind of predatory attack wherein their intestines had been "ripped apart." The unsettling incident quickly became all the more worrisome the following day when an additional nine sheep were found slaughtered in a similar fashion.
Residents noted that the pair of attacks are rather unusual in that, despite so many animals being killed, no one heard a sound coming from the enclosure as the sheep were slain by the mystery beast and the only sign of the predator was a "black shadow" which one farmer claimed to have witnessed at the time of the second incident. Another peculiar detail surrounding the two incidents is that the predator simply left all of the dead livestock behind rather than taking even one of its victims off to eat. Authorities have descended upon the village to investigate the matter, though whether they can identify the culprit remains to be seen.
Eerily, the 29 sheep killed this week are seemingly the latest victims of a mystery creature which has struck several times over the last few years with one particularly gruesome attack wherein a staggering 150 of the animals were killed. While various prosaic predators, such as a big cat or a hyena, have been suggested as the cause of the incidents, some have speculated that the stealthy nature of the beast and the weirdness of the attacks is an indication that the infamous chupacabra is to blame. For now, the farmers in Gunadola no doubt simply hope that the mystery creature's bloodlust has been satiated and they do not lose anymore sheep.
