NASA recently released an image of Pluto's dark side captured six years ago by the New Horizons spacecraft as it flew past the planet. The view shows Pluto's dark side surrounded by a halo of bright sunlight. The composite image was generated from 360 images taken by the New Horizons spacecraft as it looked back on Pluto's dark southern hemisphere. Researchers were able to pull out some details of the planet's icy terrain by utilizing light from Pluto's largest moon, Charon.
