New Zealand Cops Bust Duo Trying to Smuggle Huge Haul of KFC Past Lockdown

By Tim Binnall

Authorities in New Zealand made a proverbial finger lickin' arrest when they caught a pair of men trying to smuggle a massive haul of Kentucky Fried Chicken past a coronavirus lockdown. The strange bust reportedly occurred near the city of Auckland, which is currently under strict restrictions due to the pandemic and, as such, restaurants as well as takeout establishments have been forced to temporarily close. Cops keeping an eye on the border understandably had their suspicions raised when they saw a car headed towards them before abruptly making a U-turn and speeding away from the police. The ill-advised evasive maneuver led to a brief chase that culminated with the vehicle being stopped at which point the rather strange discovery was made.

Upon opening the trunk of the car, police were astounded to see a staggering amount of Kentucky Fried Chicken that the duo had presumably planned to smuggle into the city. A photograph later released by the authorities shows four buckets of chicken, a jaw-dropping 10 containers of coleslaw, and four sizeable KFC bags likely containing even more of the fast food. In addition to all that food, police also found a whopping $70,000 in cash. Authorities are uncertain as to whether or not the food was for the two men and some friends or if they planned to try and sell the contraband chicken to Auckland residents who are desperate for a taste of the famed colonel's original recipe.
