Residents of a New Zealand community are fed up with a mischievous prankster who has been leaving sausages in their mailboxes for months. According to a local media report, the bizarre mystery began last April in the town of Surfdale on the country's Waiheke Island. Initial victim Jacob Coetzee recalls that when he first found a sausage wrapped in bread sitting in his mailbox, he dismissed it as an isolated incident that was likely the work of someone who had a bit too much to drink that particular day. Any amusement he may have had about the odd 'delivery' was quickly replaced with consternation as the sausages just kept appearing.
Explaining that "it happens at least once a month, at the very bare minimum," Coetzee eventually "messaged my friends thinking they were playing a joke on me" and was stunned to discover that he was not the only person targeted. "All of them had photos of sausages in their letterboxes," he revealed, "that was when I knew it was a serious problem." To that end, when word of the weird mystery reached a local Facebook group, it quickly became the talk of the town as even more residents of the community reported that they had also fallen victim to the prankster who has come to be known the 'Surfdale Sausager.'
Now a cloud of suspicion has fallen over the community as residents are left to wonder who among them is behind the sausage spree. "It's tearing Waiheke apart, because we just don't know who it is," Coetzee lamented, "I've been accused, my brothers been accused. It's a witch hunt." While fingers have been pointed at all manner of possible suspects for the serial sausaging, as of now the identity of the prankster remains a mystery. That said, Coetzee expressed confidence that the person will eventually get caught. Speaking directly to the Surfdale Sausager, he declared, "I know you're out there. Just know one thing, you will be unmasked."
