Pennsylvania Police Identify 'Box Demon' Who Eerily Visited Homeowner

The curious case of the self-described 'Box Demon,' who visited a homeowner in Pennsylvania, has been solved by police, though the matter remains rather mysterious. The weird character made headlines earlier this week following the emergence of doorbell camera footage showing the eerie individual's late-night stop at a residence in the community of North York. After authorities put out a bulletin cautioning residents about the 'suspicious person,' many speculated about the identity and motives of the stranger who donned a paper plate mask and left an empty box on the doorstep of the home. Although police now say the residents have nothing to fear with regard to the 'Box Demon,' their announcement has left far more questions than answers.

In a follow-up message from the Northern York County Regional Police Department, they indicated that they "have identified and spoken to the 'Box Demon'" and assured residents that "there are no public safety concerns" surrounding the peculiar event. Interestingly, the department also said that "the homeowner who had the box placed on her doorstep was made aware of the identification and does not wish to speak any further regarding this incident." Alas, the statement offered no further information concerning the 'Box Demon,' leaving one to wonder if the individual was simply a prankster who received a stern warning from the cops.

While the resident visited by the 'Box Demon' may now wish to put the incident behind her, that was not the case on Wednesday when the homeowner, Tammy McAnnaney, told a local TV station that she was not too pleased with the stranger's antics. "I'm angry. I don't know who would be too happy with having somebody ringing your doorbell at 4:22 in the morning," she understandably groused, "do something constructive with yourself. I know I didn't do nothing to this so-called person who runs around with the paper plate on their face. Go find something else to do." One imagines that with the police having unmasked the 'Box Demon,' the prankster is likely to heed the homeowner's advice.
