'Petrified Fish' Spotted on Mars

By Tim Binnall

An anomaly hunter scouring NASA images of Mars for strange and unusual objects spotted a peculiar oddity which he believes is a petrified fish that once resided in the oceans of the Red Planet. The peculiar find was made by indefatigable UFO researcher Scott C. Waring as he was studying photos captured by the Mars Curiosity Rover. At the bottom of one particular photo, he noticed a rather curious shape that, upon further inspection, appears to be that of a fish with a clearly visible tail fin.

Marveling at the remarkable discovery, Waring observed that the suspected creature appears to measure around 20 inches in length or "about the size of a bass or small salmon." Noting recent studies which indicate that there was a rather sizeable ocean on Mars in the distant past, he posited that the anomaly was likely a denizen of that ancient aquatic world. Clearly confident that in his assessment, Waring joked that "NASA went overboard with their 2 billion dollar fishing equipment to catch this one" and that "I hope they brought the tartar sauce."

Skeptics will, of course, beg to differ with Waring's take on the curious anomaly and argue that it is actually just a rock that happens to look like a fish thanks to the phenomenon of pareidolia. That prosaic explanation would seemingly hold water, pun not intended, since it is hard to fathom how the creature's tail fin could remain intact for thousands of years unless it as somehow petrified in an instant.
