Just released close-up images of our sun depict the churning of hot plasma in unprecedented detail. Captured by the still under-construction Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope in Hawaii, "we have now seen the smallest details on the largest object in the solar system,” declared Inouye telescope director Thomas Rimmele.
To understand the massive scale of the photo (covering more than 22,000 miles), each cell or blob in the image is estimated to be the size of Texas. More at ScienceNews and Business Insider.
