Renewed media interest in UFOs continues to be a thorn in the side of the White House as reporters are asking more questions about the president and the phenomenon.
At Monday's daily White House press briefing, the often-verboten issue of UFOs was once again the topic of conversation, albeit with perhaps a little more force than in the past.
It began with reporter Olivier Knox referencing an interview by President Obama in which he said, regarding Roswell, UFO, and aliens, "it turns out the stuff going on that's top secret isn't nearly as exciting as you’d expect."
With that in mind, Knox asked, "why not make it public?"
Once again, White House press secretary Josh Earnest managed to pivot away from the question by first claiming to be unfamiliar with any such insights the president might have been given.
He then finished his answer by suggesting that Knox ask Obama, himself, at the president's next press conference, which elicited laughter from the other journalists in the room.
However in what may indicate that UFOs are of no laughing matter to some of the press corps, the infamous Roswell story was broached a second time during the session by a different reporter who seemed fed up with the evasive answers.
April Ryan of the American Urban Radio Networks observed that Earnest appeared to be uneasy with the topic of Roswell and pressed him to come clean about the infamous event, if the tale is true.
"Is there a such thing -- are you keeping quiet because of security concerns? I mean, are we to think that there might be life beyond here? I mean -- seriously. I mean, you need to answer this," Ryan said.
Despite what Ryan's exhortation, Earnest shut down the inquiry by responding, "there are some questions that even the White House Press Secretary doesn't have answers to, and this is one of them."
Nonetheless, Earnest's answer did not appear to dissuade the reporter, who warned him, "you’re not going to get off easy like that."
The scene on Monday follows a similar exchange last week, when Earnest was asked about the increased interest in Area 51.
On his Facebook page, researcher of presidents and UFOs, Grant Cameron shared this observation of the past week's events, "I said that when the media discovers the president has been briefed on UFOs, the White House will be under siege. That has now happened."
He went on to note that the multiple UFO questions in one week are highly unusual and such a sequence has only occurred twice in the last sixty years.
"The blood is in the water and the reporters have started to circle. Yesterday's question goes to the confirmation that the president is the wizard of Oz behind the cover-up," Cameron said.
With Hillary Clinton seemingly opening the door for UFO discussion this year, it certainly appears that the mainstream media is finally taking a serious interest in the topic for the first time in decades.
However, based on the events of the past week, one can surmise that the White House press pool is unlikely to receive anything substantive about the topic during their daily briefings.
As such, the next big development to look for may be when President Obama meets with these same reporters and whether we see the issue addressed or if it has been taken off the table.
