Shadow entities are an established part of the paranormal lore at this point. The beings are exactly what they sound like; entities, usually human in shape but not always, that seem to be composed of nothing more than darkness and shadow. They are usually reported at night, where their shadowy nature lends them camouflage, and are often associated with bedroom visits and sleep paralysis. But this isn’t always the case. Sometimes they’re seen during the day too.
A pair of Arizona teens believes they captured evidence of the elusive entities while walking around their trailer park last month. The duo, sisters, told their mother they’ve been seeing shadow persons around the property since moving to Arizona from Ohio two years ago. On the afternoon in question, as they lay around the living room complaining of boredom, she told them to go outside and get some fresh air. As a joke, she added, “And for God’s sake, someone take their phone out there too! Just in case you see a shadow you can finally take a picture of one!”
That’s what the girls are teasing about shortly before they capture what they believe is a shadow entity on the camera. Just around the 1:29 mark of the video you can see the vaguely humanoid outline of a dark, shadow-like figure outlined against another trailer, with a white car parked in front. The camera then drops and raises to refocus, but the entity is no longer visible in frame.
“The kids have talked about seeing shadow figures since we’ve moved to this place,” their mother said. “In Ohio, where we lived for years, I cannot remember them ever really telling me about seeing this phenomenon. But (now) it’s an almost daily occurrence for them. When they’re outside skating or playing around, or just walking to the dumpsters, they’ll talk about beings rushing by quickly; peeking around corners; looming things seen from the corner of their eye. There one minute and gone the next.”
She said one of her friends, a Native Diné, told her the entities are tied to the land – her home is near a Diné reservation – as much a part of the landscape as the stones and trees, and as impossible to fully separate from it. But, she said, she hasn’t shared much more than that.
She said so far what they’ve seen hasn’t seemed to mean any harm, or to be threatening. But that doesn’t stop it from being creepy, particularly at night.
“At night they won’t venture to the far right of the trailer, or go out at all unless they’re in pairs,” she said.
