Stephen Hawking fears that super-advanced alien races could conquer and colonize the Earth very easily - and that's not all!
After actively seeking contact with extraterrestrial civilizations for years, Hawking now thinks making contact may not be a great idea, citing historical precedence.
"If aliens visit us, the outcome could be much like when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans," the famed astrophysicist told El País.
"Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach," he said.
"To my mathematical brain, the numbers alone make thinking about aliens perfectly rational. The real challenge is to work out what aliens might actually be like."
While some aliens may be benevolent, other ETs may be intent on enslaving us.
Recently on C2C, guest Dr. David Jacobs, an alien abduction expert, said that unfriendly extraterrestrials may be nurturing an alien-human hybrid secret invasion to conquer the Earth.
Also, on Hawking's Fear List – extinction ending events by natural causes and the rise of AI, he told the Spanish news agency.
"Computers will overtake humans with AI at some point within the next 100 years," he said. "When that happens, we need to make sure the computers have goals aligned with ours."
One way to avoid the conquering hordes of aliens is to escape into space.
"I think the survival of the human race will depend on its ability to find new homes elsewhere in the universe, because there’s an increasing risk that a disaster will destroy Earth," he elaborated, saying he wanted to "raise public awareness about the importance of space flight."
