A Sasquatch statue stolen from a front yard in Tennessee is back home where it belongs thanks to a dedicated individual who located and recovered the pilfered piece by way of a rather daring rescue. In late February, some sticky-fingered ne'er-do-wells made off with the 250-pound faux Bigfoot that had sat outside Jennifer Jordan's Memphis residence for the last seven years. While the miscreants may have thought that the theft was a simple heist, what they likely did not count on was that the statue, dubbed 'Sassy,' happens to be something of a fixture in the neighborhood. As such, when news of the Sasquatch's unfortunate disappearance spread, one resident reportedly took it upon himself to find the missing Bigfoot.
"It was bothering him and he was on a mission," Jordan recalled, "it's hilarious to me and wonderful at the same time." Relying on a witness account of the caper, the man managed to determine the suspect's identity, but the location of the stolen Sasquatch remained a mystery. Fortunately, the case broke wide open on Tuesday evening when an anonymous message informed Jordan where Sassy could be found. She subsequently turned the tip over to the resident who had been searching for the sculpture and he set out to rescue the beloved Bigfoot that had apparently been "dumped in a yard."
"I didn't ask him the details," Jordan said of the unnamed hero's successful and presumably stealthy recovery of the sizeable statue from someone's backyard, "I guess he asked around, and there we go." As one might imagine, the return of the piece has been cause for celebration in the neighborhood and, in keeping with the custom that has made the Bigfoot beloved in the community, Sassy was soon dressed for the occasion, donning a Christmas dress and a special nod to the sculpture's recent misadventure. "We put a cape on her because it was kind of like a little covert operation" to retrieve the stolen sculpture, explained Jordan, who went on to declare "Super Sassy's back.”
