A giant solar prominence erupted from the sun at 4:15am (EDT) Friday morning and was captured in stunning detail by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory. The huge wave of super-charged solar plasma was many times larger than Earth and took only 10 hours before it was swept away, according to NASA media specialist Steele Hill.
