Survey Finds Over Half of Americans Believe They Have Been Visited by a Dead Relative

An enlightening new survey wherein participants were asked about having possibly interacted with dead relatives found that more than half of the respondents believe that they have been visited by a departed loved one in some form or fashion. The remarkable poll was conducted by the Pew Research Center, which spoke to 5,079 American adults over the course of a week this past spring. When asked if "they have ever felt that a family member who is dead has visited them in a dream or any other form," a whopping 53% of the participants answered in the affirmative. Alas, the survey did not inquire about the specifics surrounding these interactions, leaving their nature rather mysterious.

Beyond that question, the poll also asked about participants experiences with deceased loved ones in the last year and, in this instance, the results were equally thought-provoking. A staggering 34% indicated that they believe that they have felt the presence of a departed relative sometime over the previous twelve months, while 28 percent of the respondents said that they had told these denizens of the 'other side' about their lives here in the realm of the living. Incredibly, 15% of the people claimed that their departed loved ones had actually communicated with them. All told, the pollsters noted that "44% of Americans report having at least one of these three experiences in the past year."
