A homeowner in Oregon was left scratching his head after he discovered a sizeable 'snow circle' that had appeared in his backyard moments after a mysterious flash lit up the night sky. The curious case reportedly occurred at around 4:30 in the morning on December 31st in the community of La Pine. While preparing to go to work, the witness told MUFON, his dog seemed to be particularly agitated. When he brought the animal outside, the sky suddenly became illuminated, which led the man to wonder if "maybe a power line is down as it has been a pretty rough winter out here." However, as he ventured further out into his backyard, the witness stumbled upon something that seemingly defied explanation.
In the snow that covered his lawn, the witness found a circular formation (seen below) measuring approximately 30 feet in diameter. According to the man, there were "zero footprints present except my own" and he observed that "my dog was going ballistic around the area." After snapping a few photos of the oddity, the homeowner brought his dog back into the house and went off to work wondering what exactly had occurred in his backyard. Strangely, the man later received a phone call from his wife, who indicated that "she couldn't sleep all night and was feeling restless and she has an odor on her hands that is chemical and she can’t get the smell out."
As for what could have formed the peculiar snow circle, given that the man reported the incident to MUFON, one imagines that he suspects that it could have been created by a UFO. More skeptical observers have suggested that perhaps a septic tank buried beneath the spot of the formation could be the blame, while others argued that it was merely a natural snowdrift or, failing that, a clever hoax perpetrated by the witness.
