UFO Sighting Shuts Down Airport in Turkey

By Tim Binnall

Travelers at a major Turkish airport found their flights delayed earlier this week when an odd UFO sighting caused the site to be shut down for several hours. According to a local media report, the weird incident occurred on Monday evening when a pilot near Gaziantep Airport spotted a bright glowing object visible in the sky, though not on radar. The mystified witness contacted air traffic control about the anomaly that he estimated was flying at an altitude somewhere between 8,000 and 10,000 feet.

In a testament to the seriousness with which officials treated the strange sighting, all traffic at the airport was halted while the case was investigated. Flights resumed around three hours later after authorities determined that the glowing object, though still unidentified, was not a threat. The peculiar event is the third instance this year wherein UFOs have caused a commotion in Turkey. In late January, several airline pilots reported that their automated collision warning system had been triggered by anomalous objects. Around a week before that curious case, a sizeable search failed to find a UFO spotted vanishing from radar over a forest.
