UK Teen Wins Cryogenic Court Battle

A terminally ill teenager in England prevailed in a landmark court case that allowed her to be cryogenically frozen in the hopes of being revived in the future.

The fate of the unnamed teen had been caught in the middle of a contentious legal battle between her divorced parents.

While the girl's mother supported her daughter's wish to be cryogenically preserved, her father expressed deep reservations about the plan.

Aside from the cost, he argued that, if the cryogenic treatment worked, his daughter would be ill-equipped for a world in the distant future, especially since she would only be 14 years old.

Nonetheless, acting on the young girl's personal request and noting the estranged relationship between she and her father, a judge ruled in favor of allowing the cryogenic plan to proceed.

News of the verdict, which was rendered in October, only came to light this week as the girl sadly passed away shortly after receiving the news.

In keeping with her final wishes, her body has been sent to the United States where it will be frozen until some time when doctors in the distant future believe they can revive her.
