Video: 10-Year Time Lapse of the Sun

NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) has been watching the Sun for a full decade since its launch from Cape Canaveral in 2010. In that time SDO has taken 425 million high-resolution images of the Sun, averaging an image every 0.75 seconds. New video released by NASA shows a stunning 10-year time-lapse of the Sun compiled from one SDO image taken each hour of its mission. The footage shows the rise and fall in activity in the Sun's outermost atmospheric layer - the corona - over the course of its 11-year solar cycle.
