Actress Vanessa Hudgens claims that she has been sensitive to paranormal activity throughout her life and that this gift led her to pursue ghost hunting in an effort to communicate with the 'other side.' The High School Musical star made the surprising revelations during an appearance on the Kelly Clarkson Show earlier this week. Asked by the eponymous host about her interest in ghosts, Hudgens indicated that it is not a particularly "new passion" as the actress remarkably asserted that she has been able to see and hear spirits since childhood. "I kind of shut it down for a while, because it's scary," she explained, "the unknown is scary."
However, Hudgens said, she eventually came around to accepting her unique set of skills, musing that "I was like, 'no, this is a gift and something that I have the ability to do, so I'm going to lean into it." As such, the actress told Clarkson, she recently decided to embark on "my first real paranormal investigation with equipment and everything." Pressed about what sort of devices she uses, Hudgens noted that there are an array of such tools available, but her favorite is the popular 'Spirit Box' machine, which scans radio signals and, some believe, acts as a conduit to allow ghosts to communicate with the living.
Recalling the paranormal investigation that she and friend GG Magree conducted at a graveyard, Hudgens said that they had been told of a specific tombstone that belonged to "a very playful" ghost and so the duo visited the marker attempting to speak to it using the Spirit Box device. According to the actress, when she asked the suspected denizen of the 'other side' to tell them their names, they suddenly heard "Vanessa" burst forth from the machine. Hudgens subsequently asked the perceived spirit if it had anything else to tell them and the box simply responded "no." That succinct answer put an end to their ghost hunt, she said, but stressed that they thanked the ghost before leaving and told it to stay behind, because "you don't want spirits to follow you."
