A beachgoer in Texas stumbled upon the rather gruesome-looking remains of a mysterious sea creature that has been likened to an alien or something from a science fiction film. According to a local media report, Suzanne Choate Arceneaux made the odd discovery earlier this month at Port Bolivar Beach in the city of Galveston. Posting a picture of the strange creature carcass on Facebook, she explained that she had been "walking the beach today and noticed a lot of dead things, seagulls, pelicans, stingray, a ton of jelly fish," but was stopped in her tracks when she spotted the "strange fish" that left her scratching her head.
The curious creature sports a long body that resembles that of an eel, but with an open mouth that revealed a row of menacing teeth. Marveling that "I had never seen anything like this before," Arceneaux asked people online if they could identify the oddity. As one might imagine, she received an array of suggestions ranging from the fantastic, such as an alien or a 'sand worm' from the movie Beetlejuice, to the more realistic, such as a dead dolphin or perhaps an eel. To that end, a representative from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department ultimately opined that the creature was, indeed, likely a snapper eel and not something from out of this world.
