Cops in Canada are investigating a strange burglary case wherein thieves broke into a restaurant and made off with thousands of dollars worth of tropical fish from the establishment's aquarium. According to a local media report, the weird heist took place last week in the community of Beachburg. For more than 30 years, the Beachburg Restaurant has been a fixture of the community, serving both Chinese and Canadian food as well as boasting a sizeable aquarium stocked with a variety of exotic tropical fish. However, the owners of the establishment could not believe their eyes when they came to work one morning and discovered that their prized collection had been plucked from the tank.
"I can’t believe it. It’s crazy," owner Lily Dan lamented, "they target the fish, it's not about the money." To that end, she indicated that only a meager amount of cash was taken from a register, while an array of items necessary to care for the creatures, like chlorine and food, were also stolen. The restaurant owner's astonishment was echoed by Ontario Provincial Police spokesperson Shawn Peever marveled that "in my 27 years of policing, I have never heard of tropical fish being stolen from an aquarium." Cops investigating the case suggest that the pilfered animals could pop up for sale online and, as such, are asking the public to be on the proverbial lookout for the lost creatures "even if they see the fish in person somehow."
