Scheduled to launch in 2029, NASA's DAVINCI (Deep Atmosphere Venus Investigation of Noble gases, Chemistry and Imaging) mission will conduct two flybys of Venus as well as a series of imaging and atmospheric measurements. The most dramatic part of the mission will be when the probe falls through the Venusian atmosphere to collect data and images as it heads toward the surface. Some of these measurements may reveal if Venus once had water. Data from DAVINCI may even help scientists determine if Venus was more Earthlike in its past.
